Mirren against reading Shakespeare at school

The actress has performed in several productions of the playwright's works and has even graced the stage with Britain's renowned Royal Shakespeare Company.

Mirren has gone back to the Bard once again with a starring role in Julie Taymor's new big screen adaptation of The Tempest, and the Oscar-winner is adamant she would prefer kids to see Shakespeare's plays performed by actors, instead of labouring over his texts.

She tells Britain's Daybreak TV show, "Honestly, I don't think kids should be made to read Shakespeare at all. I think children's very first experience of Shakespeare should be a performance in the theatre or on film. Mostly in the theatre but it should be performed because that makes it alive and real...

There hasn't been much movement on Judd Apatow's Five Year Engagement lately. What's new is that Community's Alison Brie is on board, set to play sister to Blunt.Stoller and Segel wrote the screenplay for the film, which will be produced by Apatow and Shauna Robertson. Gore Verbinski on 'Rango' and Its 'Lizard-Like' Star, Johnny Depp

Rango marks Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski's first foray into animated features and his fourth collaboration with Johnny Depp, who lends his voice to the film's title character, a chameleon in the midst of an identity crisis. It's an idea Verbinski's been developing since he finished the first Pirates film, in 2003, and it's inspired at least in part by the chameleon-like actor whose second, megastar career phase he helped launch. In a recent interview, I spoke with Verbinski about his ambitious and thoroughly unconventional animated western:How exactly did Rango originate? In 2003 I had a meeting with David Shannon and John Carls and we talked about doing an animated western with creatures of the desert. I wrote up
