Real-life Sound of Music family member dies

Agathe von Trapp passed away on Tuesday (28Dec10) at a hospice in Towson, Maryland after suffering congestive heart failure last month (Nov10). She was 97. Von Trapp was the oldest daughter of Austrian naval officer Captain Georg Ritter von Trapp, whose seven children were the basis for the singing family in Robert Wise's 1965 movie, starring Julie Andrews. The musical centred around a woman who leaves an Austrian convent to become a governess to the children of a stern naval officer widower.
