Euro 2008 winning-midfielder Marcos Senna is set to be on the sidelines for up to 10 weeks because of a right thigh injury, his Spanish First Division club Villarreal announced on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Brazilian-born naturalised Spaniard - who played a pivotal role in Spain's Euro win - suffered the injury in the Spanish Cup Last 16 first leg 0-0 draw with Valencia a week ago.
Senna, capped 27 times but who failed to make the squad for the World Cup finals this year, returned to Brazil for Christmas and underwent medical tests there which revealed the extent of the
