The Springbok Sevens claimed the consolation prize by winning the Plate trophy at the Emirates Airline George Sevens on Saturday, but in the process paid a heavy price to collect the trophy.
Paul Treu’s side gave the fans that turned up to Outeniqua Park
something to smile about as they beat Argentina 10-5 in the final after
narrowly escaping defeat against Wales in the semifinal.
But in the process they have lost their playmaker Cecil Afrika, who broke
his cheekbone and is likely to miss the next few months of action.
