The Pumas and the Eastern Province Kings drew 36-36 (halftime 20-12 to the Kings) in a dramatic first-leg Currie Cup promotion/relegation match played at Puma Stadium in Witbank on Friday.
The Premier Division team outscored the First Division champions six tries to four, but it was the boot of Kings flyhalf Monty Dumond which ensured that both teams take three log points apiece into next Friday’s second leg -- two for the draw, and one for scoring four tries.
Dumond’s fourth penalty with two minutes remaining not only gave the Kings a share of the spoils, but has also effectively made the match at the Nelson Mandela Bay
