Broadway shows go on despite snow storm

City officials began clearing roads across Manhattan and the outer boroughs on Tuesday (11Jan11) as nine inches (22.9 centimetres) of snow descended upon the city overnight - just over two weeks after blizzard conditions ground the city to a halt ahead of the New Year.

But a spokesperson from Broadway League insists productions will go on as scheduled on Wednesday night (12Jan11).

And show bosses are using the wintry blast to lure theatregoers out with big last-minute discounts.

The Importance of Being Earnest, La Cage aux Folles, Mamma Mia!, The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore and Memphis are just some of the shows that have offered one-day deals for typically hard-to-get orchestra and mezzanine
