Never-before-seen Picasso works surface in France

Retired electrician Pierre Leguennec, 71, claims Picasso gave him 271 works when he was working on the artist's home in the south of France in the 1970s. The works, which include lithographs, watercolours, portraits and sketches, date between 1900 and 1930, and are estimated to be worth a staggering $77.1 million (£50 million), according to reports in France. Leguennec reportedly approached the artist's son, Claude, to authenticate the works earlier this year (10). But the heir swiftly filed suit against Leguennec, insisting his father would never have handed over such a collection of artworks. A statement from Claude Picasso reads: "To give away such a large quantity, that's unheard of. It doesn't hold water. This was part of

Bridges hopes technology will reduce workload

The 60-year-old veteran actor stars as video game hacker Kevin Flynn in Tron: Legacy, reprising a character he played in the original Tron in 1982. Experts were able to create a digital version of Bridges in his 30s by recording his facial movements and superimposing them onto the body of a younger man - and the Oscar winner has hailed the advancement as a "new era of film-making". He tells Britain's Live magazine, "This technology means I'd never have to work again in my life and I could still make films. I can say, 'I'll lease you my image.' "In a few years, they'll be able to take aspects of three different actors and make a fourth character. They can say, 'Let's put Bridges in here, but I want a little Al Pacino in there - what

Eliza Dushku Gets 'Bird Dog'ged For TNT

Woo! The return of Eliza Dushku can only mean one thing! The return of Eliza Dushku in magazines and pretty pictures! I mean, sure, we’re glad she’s back on television and acting but what really makes us happy is this gives magazine’s an excuse to photograph her, develop the pictures, select the best of the pictures, and then release the pictures. And after all that is said and done, before we even watch the show, we shall spend hours and hours meticulously studying these photographs. What can we say, we’re dedicated to our jobs. Dushku has landed the lead in Bird Dog, another TNT procedural cop drama. I say another because let’s take a look at what the will be about: a girl moves out to the Pacific Northwest to escape her

J.J. Abrams Casts Female Lead For ‘Alcatraz’

General announcement of excitement (i.e. woo, yay, ballababoom, etc)! Sarah Jones has been cast as the lead in J.J. Abram's mysterious island/prison show Alcatraz. She joins Jorge Garcia as the only actors announced, but like Garcia, this is a welcome bit of casting news. You see, I don’t care that this is basically another mystery show set on an island by J.J. Abrams that happens to star Jorge Garcia. I think this show will be awesome in the ways that Undercovers wasn’t. Garcia is still one of my favorite parts from Lost and that man needs to be on television more. And Sarah Jones? Besides having one of the most boring and unoriginal names known to man (unless her middle name is something interesting like Iron Man) she is an

‘Jackass 3.5’ Comes Online In March

Following on the heels of Jackass 3D, Paramount will release Jackass 3.5 in March 2011. New stunts and pranks will be released in the weeks prior to the quasi-sequel with them all being packaged together in March. I, for one, could not be happier. There is something basic and enjoyable about what watching a guy get hit in the face with a Mackerel and in 3D. You can basically ignore everything else that is written about the show, they are either trying to be too smart for their own good or they’re crying that society is about to collapse when it simply isn’t. Another own goal from Maritzburg United, this time courtesy of Fabian McCarthy, saw the Team of Choice lose 2-1 to Orlando Pirates on Friday night for the second time in a week. - Great cash prizes in the score-prediction gameThis time the game was an Absa Premiership match played at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The Buccaneers certainly had the better of the opening 45 minutes and looked threatening in attack from the word go. Maritzburg, in retrospect, struggled to get hold of the ball and only managed one real chance in front of goal in the first half.

Renner drops 'ma'am' after offending Cher

The stars were both guests on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Renner was discussing his heist film The Town with the presenter when Cher quizzed him about the reality of the movie, about a group of career criminals who target banks in Boston, Massachusetts. Interrupting Leno's interview with The Hurt Locker star, Cher asked, "Isn't it hard with technology? You can just go in with guns and do that?" Turning to the singer/actress, Renner replied, "Yes ma'am." But he soon learned to drop the abbreviated term for madam from his vocabulary after telling Leno, "Chicks dig that!", prompting Cher to set him straight and exclaim, "No they don't! No, no, no!" And a surprised Renner took the news in his stride, quipping, "No wonder I'm

Reel Movie Reviews: Faster

Faster strikes me as the kind of movie that was never really intended to be "good", merely a balls to the wall actioner. And while we do get that, along with a nice heap of 70's revenge flick fare, the distilled characterizations don't necessarily make for the most interesting film. But that's not why you'd be going to see it. If you've bought a ticket for Faster, chances are all you want to see is The Rock kick some ass again. If that's all you were looking for, you might be pretty happy with your purchase. Within the first five minutes alone, you'll be able to witness Dwayne Johnson departing from a 10-year stint in the clink, pick up a sexy muscle car from a nearby junkyard and drive to town to put a bullet in a man's brain. That alone

'Football Wives' Recap: The Agony And The Ecstasy

In reality, she’s usually the catalyst for it all. She’s also apparently a pathological liar and just plain bitchy to boot. It took some serious pain meds to kill the headache this episode gave me, but at least someone finally got in that woman’s face and proved that she's a liar. At the beginning of the episode, Chanita is still in the hospital. Amanda shows her human side and leaves her fashion show flanked by the other ladies to follow Chanita to the hospital.

'Zombieland' Writers Head Behind Camera To Whack A Granny

But for every writer turned director (Frank Darabont), to director with a natural flair for writing (Jon Favreau) to those writers so weird they could only direct themselves (Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith) there is always a bad apple in the bunch to ruin it for them (M. Night Shyamalan). But I have a feeling that the men behind the script for Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, will be able to handle the camera well and turn Doc and Howie into a very good comedy about, what else, death and sex. Reese and Wernick have been all over the studios picking up projects left and right, but this is

In the show, we've seen Margaret grow from a timid, abused Irish immigrant to her current position of political power and, in a sense, the "Queen" of Atlantic City. Also, Jimmy is no longer the punk kid that heisted hooch in the first episode.
