The Chanel icon was attending the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award bash and had attached the valuable pin to his tie. He was sent into a panic when he realised the keepsake had fallen off and was nowhere in sight.
Luckily for Lagerfeld, honest photographer Neil Rasmus found the piece by his feet and promptly handed the jewel to event security staff.
